Granada is fairly easy to reach from most of the country.
Here we give details of transport from many popular places
- if you would like details from a different location, email
us at info@centronicaraguense.com.
Times and details of public transport are as accurate as possible
but please be aware that times do change or exact details
can be difficult to come by (click
here for more info on travelling by bus.) We recommend
that where possible you confirm bus times locally.

Taxi and public bus
Catch a taxi from the airport to UCA or Mercado Roberto
Huembes and from there a minibus
or bus to Granada.
You can catch either an official airport taxi - which
should cost about $15 or go out of the airport, cross
the road and catch a taxi from the street - which should
cost no more than 100 córdobas. Remember that
these taxis are colectivos - so may stop to pick up
more passengers. |

Minibus
There are two types of minibuses which run to Granada
from UCA. They usually leave when full (usually about
every 15-20 minutes). The last bus is at about 9pm (7pm
on Sundays). They cost 20 córdobas (paid during
the journey.) The smaller minibuses are occasionally
airconditioned. Both go to the centre of Granada.

Bus
The bus to Granada leaves from Mercado Roberto Huembes
every 15 minutes between 5am and 10pm (earlier on Sundays).
The fare is 12 córdobas |

Alternatively you could take the Managua
bus (about every half hour) and change at Empalme de
Guanacaste. Let the bus attendant (or one of your fellow
passengers!) know that you're going to Granada and they
should tell you where to get off - it is at a point
where the road splits in two and the Managua bus will
go to the left - you want to catch a bus going straight
ahead to Granada, or coming from the left (you will
need to walk a short distance to make sure that you
can catch a bus coming from the left.) There should
be a bus from here about every 20 mins.

Boat and Bus - Moyagalpa (Ometepe) to
San Jorge to Granada |
|
Boat: |

There are several boats which run between
Moyagalpa and San Jorge. The larger Ferry is recommended
- especially in rougher weather. You can buy tickets on
the boat - and also in advance for El Ferry. On El Ferry
there may also be 2 classes of tickets - cheaper downstairs
(40 córdobas) - more expensive in the upstairs
lounge (60 córdobas) |
